Anti-decubitus mattresses with Orthoforma compressor

Bedsores are a local atrophic disruption of the blood supply to the skin and soft tissues. In a running form, this is actually gangrene. And in order to exclude such terrible consequences without a serious disease that has confined a person to bed, you need to take care of this in advance, from the first days. And the anti-decubitus mattresses with the Orthoform compressor do an excellent job of it.

Risk group

People who need anti-decubitus mattresses can be divided into two groups:

  1. These are people who have suffered any injuries and are forced to comply with bed rest for 2-3 months.
  2. Older people who, due to various diseases, are bedridden for a long time. They need to use such mattresses constantly.

Treatment of pressure sores - a very difficult process. This is due to the fact that already damaged tissues continue to experience pressure, which greatly complicates their regeneration. Therefore, it is very important to prevent their occurrence.

What is the therapeutic effect achieved?

The fact is that the human body has physiological bends, so the distribution of the load on the soft tissues of the body is uneven. And there are areas in which the threat of bedsores is particularly high. It is, first of all, the sacral-coccygeal region, the area of the shoulder blades and heels. For medical standards, you must turn the bed patient every 30 minutes. An anti-decubitus mattress greatly facilitates the care of such a patient by his relatives or medical staff. In addition, due to the change in pressure in the air cavities, a massage effect is created, which greatly improves the blood flow in the soft tissues, strengthens the lymph flow, and thus improves the metabolic processes.

Models

Orthoforma anti-decubitus mattresses come in two types:

  1. Cellular type. Model M-0003 (M-0007).
  2. Balloon, or mattress composite type. Model M-0021.

The principle of operation is the same. An integral part of the mattress is a compressor, due to which the pressure level in cells or cylinders changes. This is the principle of operation - a constant alternation of air pressure, i.e.when some cells are inflated, others are blown away. The same in composite mattresses. First, even rows are inflated, then odd ones. Thus, the person is less in contact with the surface of the bed. His body is massaged, blood circulation is improved, and therefore, the likelihood of the formation of pressure sores is reduced. The mattresses are quite soft and comfortable. The movement of the air chambers is hardly noticeable to the person lying on it, but there is a pronounced effect from such a massage.

Model M-0003 (M-0007) is designed for the effective prevention and treatment of pressure sores up to the second degree of severity. Model M-0021 contributes to the treatment of pressure sores to the fourth degree of severity. The height of the canvas of the cellular mattress is 6.5 cm and must be installed on any ordinary mattress. The height of the elements of the composite mattress is 11 cm, due to which the pressure distribution is better and the treatment is more efficient and faster. They can be installed without mattresses, directly on the bed.

The pressure change cycle in both models occurs every 6 minutes. The cellular web is made of anti-allergic polyvinyl chloride with microperforation, i.e.the coating does not irritate the skin, and also lets a small amount of air through to dry the skin and wounds. Canvas composite mattresses also made of polyvinyl chloride and covered with nylon with laser perforation.

Included with the model M-0003 (M-0007) is a repair kit, with which you can simply seal the puncture. In composite mattresses, the puncture can simply be replaced. Included are two spare.

How to use?

It is very important before use to carefully read the instructions for use. Anti-decubitus mattress is easily assembled in working condition. Cloth mattress spreads out. Then the connecting tubes are put on the nozzles located on the mattress and compressor. Next, the compressor is turned on at maximum power for the initial filling of cells or cylinders with air. After that, using the pressure regulator, the position that corresponds to the patient's weight is set:

  • When the patient weighs less than 50 kg, the compressor capacity corresponds to 1-3 positions.
  • 50-55 kg - from 4 to 5 position.
  • 56-65 kg - from 6 to 8 position.
  • 66-80 kg - on the 9th position.
  • Over 81 kg - 10 position.

The maximum load can be no more than 135 kg.

The holes for the connecting tubes should be located in the legs of the patient. The compressor itself can be put or hung vertically on special hooks located on the bottom. The main condition - the compressor must be above the level of the mattress.

Compressors of anti-decubitus systems are designed for round-the-clock work, since to ensure the anti-decubitus effect it is necessary that they be turned on all the time. It works from 220 watts.

Filling the mattress with air and setting the position of permissible weight must be done before the patient is placed on it. To avoid puncture, do not use pins or other piercing devices to secure the mattress to the surface of the bed.

The mattress is covered with regular bedding. Once a month it is recommended to wipe it with a sponge or a cloth dipped in water with an ordinary detergent, and then wipe dry. It is strictly forbidden to iron the mattress.

Customer opinion

From the reviews of people facing problems in caring for relatives who, due to illness, were bedridden, the following can be identified:

  • Mattresses have not only a preventive effect, but also really contribute to the healing of existing bedsores.
  • Physically it became easier, because people who care for their relatives now have to move them less often.
  • Consumers are pleased with the ease of maintenance of the mattress itself, which is important when caring for bed patients.

The only drawback noted by buyers is the noise of the compressor. Many compare it with the sound of the compressor of the refrigerator. He is not very loud, but in pitch silence begins to annoy. They agree to close their eyes (more precisely, their ears) to this defect, so long as their relatives are comfortable and comfortable.

We live in an age of new technologies, which put a fundamentally new level of care for bedridden patients and the elderly. When treating people who are forced to comply with bed rest, it is necessary to think about the prevention of atrophic complications from day one. And remember that anti-decubitus mattresses do not exclude care for a person. They just make it easier.
