An important nuance is that glass requires an additional frame to protect against deformation. Strong blows can significantly damage the product, forming bumps and chips.

Previously, glass tiles were afraid to use in most interiors, for fear of its supposedly low practicality. Many customers were confident that when exposed to any chemistry, the product deforms and deteriorates. In reality, the facing of glass tiles is in no way inferior in terms of quality to traditional products.

Usually the material that the tile is made of is the most worrying. Since the glass is pre-crushed, all particles have rounded corners. therefore even if the product is severely damaged or scattered, you will not get hurt. This is especially true for families with children.

Areas of use

This material will perfectly fit into any room, be it a private house or a public building. Glass draws living rooms, halls, commercial premises, but, without a doubt, the most common area are kitchens and bathrooms.

Modern designers give some practical tips on the use of glass tiles:

  • The bathroom should use a diagonal design, creating the illusion of a special depth of the room.
  • If the size of the room is quite small, the design of the ceiling with glass tiles will create a real miracle, having repeatedly increased the space.
  • The same rule applies to small and highly elongated corridors - the effect of increased space will immediately become noticeable.

A little advice for those who want to create a truly magical effect in the corridor: try to lay glass tiles only at the beginning on the left side and only at the end on the right side. Thanks to this trick, natural light will dissipate and the room will become very comfortable.

Design

As mentioned above, there is a wide variety of tile styles. For example, if you want to add interior colors, you need to choose the eastern direction with a fancy patterned pattern. For lovers of minimalism fit discreet modern, emphasizing the modern design and increasing the space. The Italian direction will give the room a southern flavor, refreshing the room with colored tiles with bright patterns. The most concise and classic style is the direction of country music.

Types of tile elements:

  • Glassware Among the glass tiles there are enameled products, represented by a small size range. Such details are used to decorate mosaic fragments or to create a panel.
  • Steklomramor. From the name it becomes clear that such a tile imitates the surface of marble in all sorts of colors - from green to black.
  • Stemalit. Material with enamelled coating can be painted. Such products are opaque, and you can cover them with any color you like. In addition, enameled tiles are not subject to destruction at high temperature differences.
  • Penodecor. Facing tiles for exterior walls. It has a rough translucent surface.
  • Marblit. The luxurious look of the product highlights the dark rooms with spotlights especially advantageously.

If you want to make your bathroom truly stylish, it’s worth a deliberate approach to tile selection. Glass is perfect for walls and floors.

Products made of translucent or clear glass will look good, and you can also try an unusual matte finish.

For the kitchen are recommended transparent structures that look stylish and modern. But this does not mean that the kitchen will be white and faceless. You can choose any color you like, and the product will not lose its transparency. Glass is usually tiled with an apron, but lately more and more glass has been used to cover the surfaces of tables, walls and other parts of the kitchen space.

Small additions in the form of glass tiles will help to change the style of the kitchen radically. For example, if you want to revive the bright kitchen, but do not want to use too bright accents, an excellent choice would be a tile of silver color.

    Size range

The important role played by the choice of tile size. The correct combination of colors and shapes will allow you to visually increase the space, add light and fully enjoy the aesthetic component. The standard dimensions of the product are 20 * 30 cm. This size is suitable for rooms with a large and medium area.

The room is more spacious, the less seams will be evident. If you direct the laying of tiles along the length, you can visually stretch the room.

A large tile can reach 25 * 40 cm in size. It is advisable to use such products for flooring and only partially for wall decoration.

Small sizes belong to the mosaic. Such elements have low requirements and will fit almost any surface. If you use the mosaic wisely, you can visually align the walls and give the interior an additional appeal. With a mosaic you can create a beautiful mural or create an original drawing. However, it is worth remembering that such products can visually reduce the space.

To avoid this situation, it is recommended to harmoniously combine the mosaic with a tile of a standard size.

    Piling

The surface on which the tile will be glued must be perfectly dry, clean, without cracks and chipping. If you are going to glue the product to the ceiling, make sure that it will bear the weight of the tile.

An important step is the choice of glue. You can choose white glue for glass (it is resistant to moisture, applied with a thin layer) or transparent one-component adhesive. The latter will not only give a strong fixation, but also improve the appearance of the product. It is not recommended to use mastic, since such a component is prone to yellowing and poorly seizes the material.

First, the glue is applied with a spatula directly on the tile in an even and thin layer to avoid uneven drying. Before applying, be sure to remove the plastic protective sheet from the tile. It is advisable to prepare the glue in portions that must be used within fifteen minutes. After applying the adhesive, press the tile to a clean wall surface. Avoid strong pressure. Excess glue is recommended to remove blunt blade.

After gluing the tile is not recommended to touch during the day. Wash the product is possible only after three days.

    Care

In order for the tile to serve you for a long time and retained its original appearance for a long time, it is necessary to properly care for it. Do not use products with a high content of phosphoric acid, wax or oil. Neutral products are best for cleaning such products. If it is nevertheless necessary to put in order an excessively neglected tile, then it will be necessary to apply a tool with the content of the substances described above, but at a minimum.

After cleaning, it is recommended to rinse the surface with warm water. Glass with mother of pearl needs special care. Use for this purpose only specialized means.

    Reviews

In user reviews, the positive properties of glass tiles are most often noted. Most buyers purchase products for the combined decoration of the kitchen, bathroom, partitions and arches. Especially stands out the practicality of the tile, namely, easy cleaning, relevance in most interior styles and the ability to create original panels and drawings.
