Track lighting system

When it is required to create a specific illumination of an object, the source of which is to change position, a track system is used. This type of lighting is a system of luminaires that are placed on the rod or busbar and can move in the direction you want.

The standard application of this type of lighting is used for installations in art galleries, museums and traveling exhibitions. Often it is used at home in the event that a spot illumination of the workplace from different angles or the selection of a specific zone is required. The beam can be attached not only to the ceiling, but also to the wall, vertical bar, and even a vaulted ceiling or arch.

Ease of use of track lighting is that the user can buy a ready-made system or assemble it independently, based on their preferences.

Purpose and Benefits

Spotlights are used to focus on some details. They are often used in stores and showrooms, as well-arranged lighting allows you to highlight all the goods even on the highest shelves, highlight the price tags and allow the buyer to consider the nuances of their favorite model. In interior design, they are used to illuminate the decor, but in this case the main thing is not to overdo it and not sacrifice comfort for the sake of the installation. The best functional use in an apartment or house is in the workshop: highlighting a large workplace, such as a drawing table, sewing, workbench, a table for fixing a PC or laptops.

The advantages of track lamps include:

  • directional lighting;
  • a certain high-tech style that is able to fit into any modern interior, adding to it notes of a fresh trend in fashion;
  • the maneuverability of light sources and the possibility of arranging shadowless illumination of any surface or object;
  • free fasteners at any height and surface of any configuration.

The disadvantage of this type of lighting is one - the high cost.An ordinary lamp costs about one and a half thousand rubles, and for a system it will take from three to five.

To get a high-quality point light system for a store or museum, you need to know that the most popular and proven component manufacturers are the Russian Armada-Svet, the German Paulmann and the Italian Lussole. For home use, you can pick up the system from good Chinese manufacturers.

Kinds

  • Single phase models - those with which the whole system works entirely, there is no possibility to turn on one lamp in order to illuminate some part of the surface. Most often used in catering, shops, apartments as lighting the main square of the hall. Such options are attached to the ceiling.
  • Biphasic and three phase allow you to connect in the same bus two or three independent module light bulbs. In practice, this is used to illuminate tables in cafes, individual exhibits at exhibitions and museums, in shops to illuminate shop windows, to highlight a certain area in an apartment.

Types of lamps

  • Halogen lamps used in track lighting systems of large sales departments, large stores, cafes and restaurants.These lamps are cheaper than LEDs and have one great advantage - the possibility of using together with a dimmer (continuously adjusting the brightness of the illumination) and paired with illuminated switches without additional adjustment.
  • Fluorescent lamps Great for systems that turn on and off no more than five times a day. In this mode, the service life is at least 5 years, which is very beneficial for industrial use. The disadvantage of this lamp is the flicker frequency, which is compensated by the installation of a high-capacity rectified capacitor.
  • LED bulbs the most eco-friendly and safe, but more expensive than others. Usually they are used for home lighting or for small boutiques. LED track lights are not heated, have a large range, have a long service life and very low power consumption (compared to other light sources).

Elements of construction

The lighting system consists of a busline, along which several similar lamps, a conductor, a transformer, fixing to a wall or ceiling and connecting elements (if you want to create a geometric design of the busbar - a square, the letter "G" and others).

A busbar is an aluminum alloy construction, to which electrical contacts are made of copper. The pins are stainless steel or plastic insulated. The luminaire is attached with calipers, which can be flexible, cross-shaped, in the form of the letter “G” and “P”, and also simply straight.

When using multiple phase systems, you can install luminaires of different power, design, and even lamp type on one bus. Phaseness of systems depends on the type of transformer, which has one, two or three windings.

The connection unit comes with a ready-made system, it includes a special plug that allows you to install lighting without disconnecting electricity throughout the house. If there is no such plug, before installation it is necessary to de-energize the apartment or the private country house completely.

How to connect?

Connecting the system begins with the installation of the lighting system on the case and then connecting the contacts together. To facilitate the process, all cables located at the ends of the track system have their own shade corresponding to grounding, phase or neutral. It is noteworthy that the cables are ready for operation and shearing is not required.Before installation, it is necessary to pay attention to the difference between adapters for right and left connection.

Connection agorithm:

  • The frame is placed on the fasteners (brackets for mounting the system on the wall and cables or chains for mounting the ceiling lighting).
  • At the place of fastening of the luminaire, the wiring and wire contacts that coincide in shade are released and are interconnected. After which they are isolated by tape or braid.
  • The lamp is mounted in the right place by placing the groove in the electrical adapter. When you fully fix the device, you will hear a click.
  • The lamp is put on the chosen place of the busline and the angle of inclination is adjusted.

Place in the interior

One of the best designs that fits track lighting is high-tech and loft. This is due to the more “simplified” type of furniture and the zonal distribution of the room. This is a great option for a studio apartment, apartment or hotel room.

The choice of location for the design depends on the functional purpose of the room.

  • If it is a living room, then the lighting is mounted around the perimeter of the room. In this case, it is better to choose multiphase tires so that you can unobtrusively highlight the room while watching TV. With this installation of lamps, the light from the lamps does not reflect from the TV, and the eyes do not get tired of the contrast of the screen and the lack of lighting.
  • If a studio apartment divided into recreation areas, dining, entertainment, the lamps are installed above each zone - in the resting place above the sofa and coffee table, in the entertainment area above the table for board games, in the dining area the dining group of the table and chairs is highlighted. This allows you to select one zone and minimize the emphasis on others.
  • In the bedroom, track lighting is ideal for highlighting the dressing room and the dressing table area. It will ideally apply makeup and show all the nuances of the selected outfit. It is also possible to install the track above the headboard for comfortable reading.
  • In the kitchen, the tracks are mounted above the desktop, which allows you to move the lamp to the right place. To illuminate the working surface is enough two or three lamps. But the dining area in an isolated kitchen is better to highlight the lampshade on a long leg with a warm light.This will allow you to relax and relieve tension after a busy day.
  • In the hall you can hang the bus wire exactly in the center, directing lamps to the desired objects - a mirror, wardrobe, shoemaker.

Track-type lighting is great for industrial premises, shops, cafes, installation centers and art galleries, as well as for creating a comfortable environment in residential apartments.

If you correctly distribute the location of the systems in advance, then you can add unique notes to any design with the help of light accents.
