Beds with a lifting mechanism 140x200 cm

In a small apartment or bedroom, it is important to maintain a cozy atmosphere. You can do this by getting rid of the endless wardrobe, which litter the space and visually reduce its area. Beds with a lifting mechanism measuring 140x200 cm are the best choice for a bedroom of two adults and ideal for a small room for an adult or teenager. It is compact and roomy.and its additional advantage lies in the presence of an additional storage box, which unnoticed is located right under the bed.

Distinctive features

There are a lot of things said about the advantages of a bed with a lifting mechanism, and most important of them:

  • Saves space and creates extra storage space: "Unnecessary" seasonal items, bedding and various kinds of equipment. The size of the boxes is equal to the dimensions of the bed - 1400x2000 mm;
  • It allows you to save on the purchase of the next cabinet and literally unloads the space of a small apartment. In a word, two useful acquisitions fit in one purchase at once - a comfortable bed and a horizontal wardrobe;
  • Ease of use. The lifting mechanism with gas shock absorbers or springs makes opening / closing the storage area simple, convenient and, most importantly, easy. If we talk about the manual type of opening, then for his work will have to make an effort. But even this has its advantage - the child will not climb into the improvised wardrobe;
  • Comfortable sleep. Models with an orthopedic base will make the rest quality, and sleep - long and comfortable;
  • Reliability and safety. A bed equipped with a lifting mechanism does not open by itself, just as it does not close just like that - you have to push it to it;
  • Stylish external solution. Agree that a massive and spacious bed creates a home comfort and will look good in the bedroom. The box of such models usually stands on the floor and creates a "heavy" effect;
  • Does not accumulate dust. In contrast to the “hollow” analogs, less dust and dirt accumulate under the bed with a lifting mechanism. Keep in mind that every six months to clean up in hidden boxes still have;
  • Base may rise horizontally (sideways) or vertically,
  • Plus the size of 140x200 cm can be called its compactness: the bed does not take up much space, but two adults can easily fit on it.

If we talk about models with standard “one-and-a-half” dimensions - 140x200 cm or 140x190 cm, then it is worth noting their compactness and smaller capacity compared to the same 160 cm or 180 cm in width. Such dimensions are attributed to the double models, and to the "lorry", but if we talk about the length of the bed 190 cm (instead of 2 meters), then this product definitely applies to the one and a half models or, as they like to call them, adolescent.

The disadvantages of such beds include a relatively high price for really high-quality materials (solid wood and imported gas-lifts), difficulty in rearranging and the need to replace the lifting mechanism in 5-10 years.

You will learn more about beds with a lifting mechanism in the following video.

Type of mechanism

Everything is simple here: gas shock absorbers, springs or manual type.

Spring

It consists of a metal frame and several springs that act as shock absorbers - they facilitate and soften the lifting / lowering of the bed base.Its advantages are low price, reliability and safety - the base will not fall without the knowledge of the owner and will not open spontaneously. This type of mechanism is designed for 20,000 opening cycles or 3-5 years of work, after which it will need to be completely replaced. It is usually installed in cots (single beds), when there is no need for frequent use and the base has a small weight.

The disadvantages of the spring type are the short lifespan, the use of force during the opening of the mechanism, and the rapid wear of the springs, which has been reflected since time in the operational characteristics.

Gas lift

The shock absorber looks like a cylinder filled with gas or air (there are no springs, loops). Its main advantage can be called ease of use - to open the box, it will not take a lot of effort and even a child can do it. Classic gas lifts serve about 5-10 years, withstand a significant load of 100 kg and are “easy to lift”. Among the shortcomings of gas lifts, we note the higher cost of all types of lifting mechanisms and the possibility of violating the integrity of the bed box when they are incorrectly installed.

Hand hinged

It has neither springs nor shock absorbers, which means that it will be necessary to make efforts for its operation. Loops in the lift the most reliable and durable - they do not fail and have a low price.

Features of the frame

The device bed with a lifting mechanism such: the base consists of a box and a box for storage inside, on top - (more often) an orthopedic base with slats and a lifting mechanism. The latter at the same time fastens the two parts of the bed and provides its functionality. Modern models have an orthopedic base: a metal frame with two rows of slats - small birch panels of curved shape. Lamels take over the weight of the mattress and the person and properly distribute the load on the body of the bed.

The slats are made of birch - an ecological and safe material that allows the mattress to "breathe". The base frame is usually metal: strong, durable and durable. Lamellae differ in their width, length and distance, which is formed between the crossbeams, as well as in the method of attachment.

How to choose?

Wooden beds with a lifting mechanism and dimensions of 1400x2000 mm are ideal for a small adult or teenage bedroom, where it is important to save free space. The choice of bed is based on parameters such as:

  • Dimensions of the room. They affect the opening side of the bed base and furniture placement. If the room is small or has an unusual shape (niche, irregular shape), then the only correct solution would be to install a bed in a corner of the room or in a niche;
  • Type of mechanism. In priority gas lift - reliable and easy to use. If you want to save money, choose spring or manual loops, they significantly reduce the cost of the bed, but remember that only high-quality gas lifts are placed in high-quality wooden beds;
  • Opening method. The base can be reclined horizontally or vertically. The choice depends solely on personal preference;
  • Additional details. The lifting mechanism can be equipped with interlocks and amplifiers that will make raising and lowering the base even safer and easier. They are appropriate for the dimensions of the bed 160x200 cm and more;
  • The weight that the base holds. Here, everything is also individual: standard models withstand up to 100-120 kg of weight for one berth, models are more powerful - up to 240 kg (480 kg in total);
  • Design. There are concise models of 100% wood and with textile upholstery - completely or only at the head;
  • The price is made up of what materials are used: the array will cost more than the particle board, and chipboard is more expensive than MDF. If we talk about the mechanism, then it definitely does not need to save: choose Italy or Russia as its country of origin.

Beds with a lifting mechanism are sold without a mattress: the latter is purchased separately, taking into account the size of the bed and the width. The height of the mattress is also determined by the parameters of the bed: the stronger its base and lifting mechanisms, the higher you can afford to choose a mattress. For a bed with dimensions of 1400x2000 mm, a mattress with a height of 10-20 cm will be the best choice.

Vertical lift

These are the most compact models-transformers, which are removed in the wall niche and create free space. They are ideal for very tiny rooms, where the bedroom is often adjacent to the living room and even the nursery. In these beds, the lifts do not have additional storage space, as in the horizontal counterparts. Another significant drawback is that such a bed should be cleaned daily in the wall.

The advantage of transforming beds is that they make room in the room to move freely around it and are indispensable in small studio apartments or “odnushki”.

Design solutions

Beds with a lifting mechanism look great in any interiors: from strict classics to high-tech Hi-tech, from romantic Provence to measured Country. When choosing a model, you can “play” with its appearance:

  • External upholstery - soft textile, leather, or even do without it;
  • The size of the bed;
  • The form;
  • Headboard height;
  • Weeding - its presence or absence;
  • Shade.

Remember that when choosing a bed with a lifting mechanism, you first need to pay attention to the mechanism, its type and build quality. And after looking at the materials of the bed and its exterior design.
