Japanese-style beds

 Japanese-style beds

Recently, it became very popular to furnish your house in the Japanese style, and the bedroom was no exception here. Let's look at how a Japanese-style bed should look like and with what to combine it.

Special features

Of course, the main feature of the bed in the Japanese style is its height. It usually does not exceed 40 cm. This is due to the fact that in Japan they used to sleep on the floor altogether, only the mat. Other features include:

  • In addition to height, the distinctive feature of this bed is its width. She should not be small. This is due to the fact that real Japanese even take food while sitting on the bed. To do this, they remove the mattress and place the pillows.
  • WITHThe next distinctive feature of such a product is its strict forms. Geometry in all Japanese dwelling has not bypassed a sleeping place. It should be rectangular, while not allowing any deviations.
  • Minimalism in the design the dwelling is inherent in this country, and the bed does not allow drawings, ornaments, monograms.
  • The bedside may not be at all. or it also has a clear geometric shape. Often, the headboard of such beds imitate with the help of a screen.
  • Also bed should be made whenever possible from natural materials or at least imitate them.

Design

The design of the Japanese bed is simple. It is a rectangular podium with a mattress laid on it. Previously, the Japanese used for sleep base, tightly packed with cotton. Now you can buy any orthopedic mattress. On the pedestal, in addition to the mattress, bedside tables of the same material as the frame itself can be installed.

Japanese bed from the simple bed-podium differs in the fact that it has a wide shelf around the perimeter. This visually creates a view that the bed hovers above the ground. The bed should be larger than the mattress, while it is made in both single and double version. If the room is spacious, it is still better to install a wide bed, even if this room is for one person.

Headboard should be low.It can be attached to the very bed frame or hung on the wall. Most often it is made from thin plates or from a wide board.

Materials

This Japanese bed should be made, of course, from a natural solid wood. But this is quite an expensive material, and not everyone can afford to buy furniture from it. Although the wooden bed is not only environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic, it will also last for many years.

Now there are quite a few substitutes for this material, and the most commonly used for making beds is Chipboard (laminated chipboard). This material is made from wood residues of a large fraction by gluing them with formaldehyde resins with further pressing into plates. On top of the sheets are covered with a film, that is, laminated. The color of this coating can be completely different, but for the manufacture of beds in the Japanese style is used mainly stylized for different types of wood.

Wood veneer is also used for making such beds. This material is also cheaper than natural wood.At the same time, no harmful substances are used in its production, therefore it is more environmentally friendly than chipboard. You can also choose a color that imitates natural wood.

Metal for the manufacture of beds in the Japanese style does not apply. This is a cold material that is not inherent in Japanese dwellings.

Color, texture

Although a pure Japanese bed should have a wood color, modern design allows other colors to be used to color this product. The main thing is that the color of the bed fits the interior of the room as a whole. So, if the bedroom walls are light-colored, then the bed is better to install a dark brown or black. Conversely, if the walls in the room are dark, then it is better to choose a light shade for the bed, for example, the tone of an oak.

For the manufacture of beds in the Japanese style used wood, the texture of which is not brought to a completely smooth state. It is good, if there will be deepenings and drawing from knots. Glossy surfaces in the manufacture of such furniture does not apply.
