Ventilation grilles for doors

Ventilation is one of the ways to maintain an optimal internal microclimate. There are many devices that allow you to improve the movement of air. All use ventilation grilles that are installed as guides.

The movement of air inside the room is often limited to closed doors. It is not possible to evenly distribute both temperature and humidity. One solution to this problem is the use of ventilation grilles.

This type of construction for doors refers to devices for air flow ventilation. They consist of several structural elements:

• Lattice. This part is made in the form of a strong frame, between which the strips are located at a certain angle. This allows the air to move freely.
• Decorative overlay. The product is a small design that repeats the shape of the previous element. Install it on the other side of the door to hide the place where the hole was cut.

Install flow grilles can be almost any door but often they are found only in a few rooms:

• Kitchen. This is important if the hood is constantly running. It removes dirty and hot air, and a fresh stream enters the room just through the holes in the door.
• Bathroom and toilet. In such places use ventilation systems very often. This is especially important for the bathroom, where a large amount of moisture is collected. And to prevent the formation of mold, you should thoroughly and constantly dry the surface.
• Interior doors. This approach is relatively rare. These structures are used in large offices where you need to create a comfortable environment for employees. These doors can be seen in large archives or libraries where you need to maintain an optimal mode for storing paper.

Door systems for air today can be found in almost any hardware store. They are made of several basic materials:

• Plastic. The most common products, as the substance is perfectly resists moisture. Plastic does not rot and does not crack, and its service life is almost unlimited.
• Metal. Overflow systems of this material are quite rare, since the products are very poorly resist to water. The best solution is only stainless steel gratings.
• Tree. Structures of this type are very difficult to find on the market, almost all such models are made to order. Wooden devices are perfect for interior doors, but it is recommended to install them in the bathrooms.

Door ventilation systems are often installed at the bottom of the canvas. The number of such elements in most cases is no more than two.

The dimensions of the ventilation grilles vary in a relatively wide range:

• Width - from 10 to 60 cm;
• Height - from 10 to 25 cm.

As for the environment of use, the optimal dimensions of the structures for bathrooms is a width of 60 cm. If you plan to install the grilles in the interior doors,then it is better to buy systems with slightly larger parameters.

The thickness of products in most cases is standard and varies from 35 to 40 mm. If the door leaf is non-standard, then this should be considered when choosing similar structures.

Downstream modifications of ventilation for doors are almost the same as other models. Classify such lattices only in the form of the frame. Depending on this parameter, allocate:

• Rectangular. This type of device is mounted in the door to the kitchen or bathroom. Some models can be complemented by mosquito nets, which will prevent the migration of flies and other insects.
• Round. Systems of this type are technically no different from rectangular counterparts. On the market there are products of small diameter, which allows you to mount up to 4-5 pieces in one door.

The installed grille does not always allow for a good flow of air. When choosing such solutions, one should pay attention not only to the material, but also to the useful section area.This characteristic indicates how much air the system can miss. Experts recommend for one door to apply the lattice, in which the "living" area is 30-40 square meters. cm.

The installation process of the ventilation grille in the door can be divided into several successive steps:

1. It is necessary to remove the exact dimensions from the purchased product.. It is important to measure the side that will enter the hole.
2. On the door, choose the place where the products will be located. Do not attach the device too close to the ends of the blade, as you can simply damage it. When you have decided, you should mark the location of the gratings. Please note that the hole in the door should be about 2 mm larger than the perimeter of the product.
3. It should cut a hole. To do this, in each of the corners initially drilled holes with a large drill. Then, using a jigsaw, consistently cut a hole. If the doors are made of plastic or metal, then a special cutting tool should be used.
4. Completes the process of fastening gratings. Initially, they are inserted into the holes and try on. If necessary, it expands. Fixing the device is done with glue or other systems provided by the manufacturer. Many designs can be fastened using small screws, so for such purposes they use only decorative fasteners.
