Interior doors are often decorated with additional decorative elements, you can often see the decor in the form of glass inserts. But when using low-quality glass inserts or improper and careless operation of the door leaf, you may need to dismantle this fragile part. Replacing broken or cracked glass in the interior door begins with its removal from the door leaf. The greatest difficulties arise in the event that the glass insert is cracked, because it must be removed so that the glass does not fall apart during dismantling.

On the cracks themselves, it is necessary to glue transparent durable adhesive tape on both sides of the glass in several layers. At the same time, it is very important for the tape to capture the intact part of it. Such a manipulation will fix the glass and will not allow it to crumble into pieces during dismantling.

• chisel;
• several pieces of thick paper;

• It is necessary to clean all the grooves of sawdust, door putty or sealant.

The dismantled insert should be disposed of immediately, having previously wrapped it in the prepared paper. If in the process of work any piece of glass broke off, you should carefully sweep the room.

It is worth paying attention to gum conditionwhich is between the bead and the glass itself. If it is severely damaged or torn, it must be replaced with a new one.

After removing the cracked glass from the web, a new insert must be installed in its place. Many people have difficulty with choosing the right material to replace. Before proceeding to the description of possible alternative inserts, I would like to say that sometimes you can simply seal broken or cracked glass with the following options:

1. Special decorative film in cases where a crack or spall, have a small size. It is glued to all the glass at once, so that the door looks harmonious and complete.
2. Fiberboard sheet. This option is temporary and can only be used until a new glass is selected. To improve the appearance, it is also recommended to glue the temporary inset with a decorative film.

Installing a new decorative part in the door leaf should not begin with the work itself, but with the measurement. It is necessary to accurately determine the size of the future insert. When performing measurement work, it must be remembered that the glass itself should not fit too tightly into the grooves, otherwise it may burst again due to strong pressure.

For installation of the new insert, the following equipment is required:

• sealant;
• small nails;
• hammer;
• glue;
• rubber insert.

The replacement itself is quite simple in several steps:

1. Sealant is applied on one side of the door leaf in special grooves for glass.
2. The newly acquired insert is inserted into the gum, and then installed in the grooves. It is possible to glue the glass and wood directly without using such a rubber seal, however, such an installation will be unsafe, and the glass itself will be loosely secured in the slots.
3. Sealant is applied again, but on the other side of the door.
4. After 5 minutes are installed previously removed beadings. If necessary, they should be securely fixed using special small nails.
5. Door leaf must be left still for a couple of hours. During this time, the entire structure is fully fixed inside the door.

You can glue the glass in a wooden door not only with the use of sealant, but also with special wood or universal glue. The application of sealant also remains a mandatory part, but this step is performed after the installation of glass.

The technology of the job can be used for other types of inserts installed not only in ordinary doors, but also sliding or folding.

If the glass is located in the side door, and the canvas itself cannot be removed from the hinges, then it is necessary to fix the door leaf firmly in such a way so that in the process of work it does not move.

In addition to the usual interior doors, today you can also find tsargovye doors, which may also have a damaged glass insert. Tsargovoy door leaf is different from the usual in that it has special bars-amplifiers, which securely fix the design itself in the doorway. Replacing the insert in such a door will be performed as follows:

• It is necessary to remove the door from the hinges using a screwdriver and removing the pre-plugs. Unscrew the bolts from the inside of the hinges.
• Door leaf is laid on a flat horizontal surface, located above the floor.
• Using a ruler or chisel, you must remove the remaining caps located at the edges of the canvas.
• Remove the fasteners with a screwdriver.
• With the help of a hammer and a wooden bar it is necessary to detach the tail along the entire perimeter from the door itself. The direction of movement is from the bottom up. It is necessary to begin the removal of the armres from the place where the fasteners were located.

Replacing the glass inserts in the tsar's door is considered more difficult than the work performed on ordinary interior doors, therefore, it should be handled very responsibly and carefully.

It is not always the glass in such door leafs cracks or breaks. More often, you can hear that it just starts to wobble strongly and produce loud and unpleasant sounds. There are several ways to solve this problem without replacing the decorative insert:

• You should purchase a special "sanitary" sealant, which is applied in a thin strip into the slits formed between the insert and the wood.
• Ordinary matches one by one are inserted into the corners of the glass panel. Instead, you can use acrylic putty, which is also applied to the corners of the insert.
• Small pieces of cork are abundantly lubricated with universal glue and along the perimeter of the glass are inserted into the cracks.
• You can also gently remove the beadings themselves, apply a sealant to the glass, and reinstall them from above, but closer to the decorative panel itself.

All these methods of eliminating noise and mobility of glass in the door really help to get rid of the problem, and their implementation does not take much time.

The main ways to replace the glass in the interior doors are two, and each of them, in turn, has two varieties:

• Installation of a new insert with conservation or increase in size. In the first case, the cracked or broken glass is removed, and in its place a new one is installed, which has the same size. Such work is considered the most simple and fast.
• In the second case, after dismantling the damaged insert on the door leafhe draws a new image with a pencil, then the measurements are taken, and then the glass of a suitable size is acquired. With the help of a hacksaw, the required shape of the hole is cut out, special grooves are made in it and only then is the installation done. Such work requires special carefulness of measurements and caution when cutting a new form into the door, otherwise you can only spoil all the material without solving the problem.

• Quarter insert insertion, non-standard work. Replacing cracked glass using quarters is the job that was described step by step. Quarter in this case are called parts of the bead.
• A nonstandard insert replacement is considered to be much more complicated and time consuming. It is carried out in cases where the glass itself is inserted into the door without the use of bead. In this case, the process of installing a new decorative element will be as follows:
• It is necessary to remove the plugs at the end of the door leaf and remove the fasteners.
• The door is removed from the hinges and is located on a horizontal surface.
• The side of the door leaf is removed.It is usually enough just to slightly pry it with a chisel or a thin iron ruler. In the opening that opens, you will see a glass that is easy to reach.
• After extraction, on a free space it is necessary to install a new insert, and then fix the side plate.
• The final stage of such a replacement will be the assembly and hanging the door.
