Enamel KO-811: technical characteristics

Enamel KO-811 refers to the type of enamel silicone group. Its use is connected with the fact that in everyday life and in production conditions all kinds of equipment made of metal is used.

This could include various kinds of machines and mechanisms, metal fences and fences, pipes and stairs made of steel, batteries or furnaces of various designs for heating and many other products. All of them either stay in open space or are located in certain areas, but, in any case, need protection from moisture, high or low temperatures, and other factors contributing to corrosion.

Specifications

This paint coating is a suspension of various color pigments dissolved in silicone lacquer. The dye of this type is available in two versions: KO-811 and KO-811K. Both types of paint coatings are used for the purpose of anticorrosive protection of products made of steel, titanium and aluminum, the heating of which during their operation can reach up to + 400 ° C.

Heat-resistant enamel KO-118 throughout its service life keeps its external appearance unchanged. It is weatherproof and moisture resistant. This paint is recommended for use in rooms with a high level of humidity and in open spaces. Due to the increased resistance to the action of various oils and gasoline, this paint can be recommended for surfaces that are in contact with these compounds.

After drying, KO-118 forms a uniform film on the painted surface that does not have wrinkles and foreign inclusions. At an air temperature of 20 ° C, the conditional viscosity index of this enamel is about 12–20 u. e., which makes it possible to apply this coating by spraying it.

The application of such enamel in several layers during drying between the next paint does not take much time, since the period of its drying does not exceed 2 hours.

The content of non-volatile compounds in the mass ratio in red enamel is about 30–35%. For black and green enamels, this figure is 39–45%, and for white and steel dye, this value ranges from 48–55%.For other colors, the content of non-volatile components is about 46–54%.

The elasticity of the film formed by this paint, when the product bends after the coating has dried, does not exceed 3 mm, so that it can, without fear of disrupting the integrity of the coating, be used to paint pipes of small diameter.

The hardness of this enamel is not less than 0.5 y. e. It has sufficient strength to be resistant to damage from shock and other mechanical effects, and its heat resistance at temperatures of the order of 400 ± 10 ° C is not less than 5 hours.

The dye consumption per 1 m2 when applied in two layers is about 100 g. The recommended layer thickness when coated with enamel KO-811 or KO-811K is about 40-50 microns.

This enamel coating can be operated in the temperature range from -60 to + 400 ° C.

Application Method

Before painting the surface with a dye of this type, it must be thoroughly cleaned, removing dust, mechanical particles, fats, salts and other fragments and compounds from it. Degrease such surfaces with a cloth moistened with a solvent such as acetone, solvent or xylene. In the presence of scale or rust, they are removed manually or mechanically or by sandblasting.

If it is not possible to use a sandblaster and when the products to be painted will be used at temperatures below 100 ° C, a rust converter is acceptable. The remains of the old coloring layer are also removed. Eventually, The surface prepared for painting must be sufficiently clean and dry.

Further, the enamel is diluted to the state of working viscosity by means of toluene or xylene for KO-811 in the ratio of 30–40%, for white - in the proportion of 70–80%, and for other colors - 40–50%. After thorough mixing, the enamel is left for 10 minutes to let air bubbles out of it.

If we are talking about KO-811K, then its semi-finished product is mixed with a stabilizer in a ratio of 100: 6 for white paint and in the ratio of 100: 7 for other colors. To the prepared composition is not dry, it should be used no more than 24 hours.

Enamel should be applied to the surface to be painted with a spray gun, the nozzle diameter of which is 1.8–2.5 mm from a distance of about 20–30 cm. Works can be carried out at temperatures from -30 ° C to + 40 ° C.

Enamel is applied to metal products in two or crown layers. Each layer should dry from 0.5 to 2 hours, which depends on the ambient temperature. During operation, the complete hardening of the enamel layer is carried out by heating painted products and equipment.

When operating the product in aggressive environments such as gasoline, mineral oils or salt fog, thermal hardening is required for 15–20 minutes at temperatures above 250 degrees Celsius. At 20 ° C the final hardening of the enamel film is observed after three days.

Rules for safe handling of enamel

It is necessary to work with enamel KO-811 in rubber gloves and a gas and dust respirator. If it comes into contact with your face or hands, you should immediately wash them with warm water and soap. It is necessary to thoroughly air the work area.

Enamel is a flammable substance, therefore when working with it, it is forbidden to smoke and keep open fire nearby. The working platform must be equipped with the necessary fire extinguishing agents.

Silicone enamels occupy a leading position among the protective coatings. They are able to withstand elevated temperatures and can be successfully used for painting heating and hot water systems, various boilers, pipes and heating batteries, as well as other equipment operating in conditions of high temperatures and high humidity.

Keep this enamel should be isolated from direct sunlight.
