Linen blankets

About the unique properties of flax known since ancient times. Our ancestors Slavs very much loved linen fabric, they sewed clothes from it both for everyday wear and for festive exits. Today flax is one of the most expensive natural materials used in textile production. From it still create outfits, bedding, home textiles, but today we will talk about such a wonderful novelty, like a linen blanket.

Advantages and disadvantages

In the production of blankets used flax fiber, which is a filler. The cover, as a rule, is made of microfiber or semi-linen (in the composition - 50% flax, 50% - cotton). These blankets are surprisingly pleasant to the touch, have an unobtrusive aroma. They are still gaining popularity, as they appeared not very long ago, however, the number of their fans is growing. And all thanks to the huge number of advantages:

  • Linen blankets are very durable.
  • Very wear-resistant, have a long service life.
  • Beautiful appearance.
  • Linen cloth - hygroscopic material. The blanket from it is able to absorb and evaporate moisture (up to 30% of its own weight), while remaining dry and comfortable.
  • Does not cause allergies.
  • It is "breathable", well passes air and regulates temperature as it is necessary at the moment: in the summer - it refreshes, in the winter - it warms.
  • It is pleasant to sleep under such a blanket, it is light, airy and soft.

In addition to the above benefits, flax products are renowned for their healing properties, and blankets are no exception. Many of them just because of these properties and buy:

  • Flax helps to neutralize radiation and electromagnetic effects, including from household appliances.
  • Heals wounds and scratches on the body.
  • It prevents the occurrence of various skin irritations, dermatitis, allergic reactions.
  • Helps the skin to gain natural protection.
  • Interferes with reproduction of bacteria on a berth.

Linen blankets also have disadvantages, but they are quite insignificant, especially in comparison with the advantages:

  • Firstly, these products are quite expensive. However, it is worth remembering that their service life is high, so their price is justified.
  • Secondly, as you know, after washing and drying, linen fabric becomes very wrinkled, and it needs to be ironed. But this does not apply to linen blankets, because the cover, as a rule, is not sewn of pure flax, so it easily straightens after drying.

Species

Blankets are divided into varieties on several grounds:

  • By way of sewing. There are 3 options for stitching products: quilted in parallel rows, quilted in "squares" or "cassettes" and a patterned stitch. With parallel firmware, the filler is not well fixed and over time it can become confused. Stitching "cassettes" - the best option. The filler is enclosed in a small square, about 10x10 cm in size or slightly larger, which is why it does not roll down and does not gather in one place in a lump. And finally, the patterned stitching (the so-called karostep) is a very attractive, but not very practical option, since again there is the possibility of the filler rolling.
  • To size. There are 2 groups of gradations in size - one and a half and double.According to the standards, the group of one and half-sleeping blankets includes the following parameters: 1.40x2.05 m, 1.45x2.05 m, 1.50x2.10 m, 1.55x2.15 m, 1.60x2.20 m. Of these, European standard is the size of 1.55 x2.15 m, and the Russian - 1.40 and 1.45 x2.05 m.

Double blankets have the following parameters: 1.72x2.05 m, 1.75x2.05 m, 1.80x2.10 m, 2.00x2.20 m, 2.40x2.20 m. European standard - 2.00x2.20 m, Russian - 1.75х2.05 m.

  • According to the degree of warmth. This parameter is indicated on the product label and looks like a few dots. In total there can be from 1 to 5. It is logical to assume that 1 is the “coldest” blanket, and 5 is the warmest. Looking at how many points on your chosen product, you can understand whether it will suit you personally or not, because everyone has their own comfortable temperature regime.

Life time

Flax fiber is one of the most durable and durable natural materials. Flax blankets can last 5-7 years, however, due to the fact that flax absorbs moisture, when you are in a room with high humidity or if you suffer from hyperhidrosis, its service life can be reduced by 2 times.

Peculiarities of care

For a linen blanket, as well as for any other thing from natural raw materials, you need the right care. It consists in the following manipulations:

  • In the morning, after you get out of bed, shake your blanket, let the air circulate in its fibers. So you will return to him the freshness and lightness.
  • Do not crumple the product, let it lie in the straightened form.
  • Every month, take out the blanket in the open air, hang it and ventilate it.
  • Linen can and should be washed. Choose a delicate mode, set the temperature to 30-40 degrees Celsius, take the powder without bleaching components - and go ahead! It is forbidden to dry and squeeze a blanket in a typewriter.
  • Drying is performed on a flat horizontal surface with a mat under the bottom of a terry sheet.
  • Ironing linen blankets is not necessary.
  • If you want to remove the product for the time being, fold it carefully and place it in a fabric case.

Reviews

Linen-filled blankets have gained popularity and love among consumers all over the world. People are satisfied with the therapeutic and hypoallergenic properties of these products. They also point out that linen blankets always “know” which heating temperature you need to choose at one time or another.

Many consumers have noticed that, after they began to sleep under a blanket of flax, they became less likely to get sick with ARVI and other respiratory illnesses. This is simply explained: free air circulation among the fibril plexus prevents dust accumulation, and therefore, dust mites, which can cause allergic reactions and respiratory diseases, are excluded.

Very fond of these products and moms. Children sleep quietly under linen blankets, the possibility of both overheating and freezing is excluded. The ability to evaporate moisture is also very important. Toddlers do not sweat and do not suffer from diaper rash.

Therefore, if you hesitate, what kind of blanket will last you longer than the others, make your sleep comfortable and strong, and also be able to “tune in” to your personal preferences, stop your choice on a flax fiber product. You may pay a little more for it, but in any case, this purchase will fully justify itself.
