Features of Karelia floorboard

Finnish company Karelia has been manufacturing flooring for over 30 years. The manufacture of floorboard is the main activity of the company. Main characteristics

Karelia is currently engaged in the production of only floorboard. These products are made of three layers of wood, perpendicularly glued together among themselves - the front, middle and bottom:

  • Finnish spruce veneer about 2 mm thick, characterized by high hardness and density, is used as the bottom layer;
  • the second layer is made from the same wood as the lower one, but about 8 mm thick;
  • The front layer is a valuable wood, about 3.5 mm thick. The thickness of any parquet is 14 mm.

Karelia parquet varies in stripes, sorting, type of wood and type of surface treatment. Wood for production is oak, beech, ash, birch, walnut and merbau. It is sorted by pattern, color and the presence of defects. There are 4 types of sorting boards:

  • select - it is a flat surface without defects and knots, as well as natural and soothing shades;
  • natur - it is more diverse colors and natural texture. The presence of small knots;
  • natural mix - this is a “live” and bright texture with sapwood. Defects to her more than in the previous form. All this gives a special charm and unusual wood;
  • country music - This sorting, which has many variations in shades. The focus is on the structure of wood.

The stripes of the board imply how the top layer is made. The company produces three types of floorboard:

  • single sideband The front layer is made from a single piece of wood. The most expensive option. Oak slats are more often chosen for such parquet. In catalogs there is a parquet board 138 and 188 mm wide, 180 and 200 cm long;
  • two way From above stack two perfectly matched veneer slats. The width of this board is 20 cm, and the length is 2421 mm;
  • three-lane. The top layer in such products consists of three strips of wooden dies, laid in parallel or with a small offset. In collections, this board is represented from many types of wood. Parameters: width - 188 mm, length - 2266 mm.

Surface treatment with the following protective materials:

  • varnish. Sheeting which allows to save a tree from influence of external factors: moisture, falling of objects, attrition and other. In the production of applied 7 layers of varnish. There are glossy, satin and matte version. The gloss gives the boards a shine, as well as a polished and smooth look. Satin coating emphasizes the texture of wood. Matt lacquer highlights the pristine beauty of the tree and remains invisible gaze;
  • natural oil. With the help of the floor give a natural and beautiful look. It is quickly absorbed, and the shade and structure of the tree gives it more "warmth";
  • satin oil. It protects and gives the floor a soft and velvety shade, while preserving its naturalness.

For parquet used 3 types of locking systems:

  • Profiloc 5G and Profiloc 2G - laying without glue and tools.The lock in them is self-locking;
  • thorn groove. This compound involves the use of glue and the need for it to completely dry.

The board is easy to fit, so many do it yourself. Options from different collections are often combined in the same room.

They note the excellent noise and heat insulation of the floor covering, as well as its durability and moisture resistance. It does not make noise when walking and is pleasant to the touch.
