Where is the 650 solvent used?

There are different types of solvents, the most popular among which are 646, 647 and 650. It is necessary to clearly understand which solvent is permissible in operation and is compatible with a specific basis. R-650 is an organic solvent, the most common and often used in various works. This article will discuss where and how it is commonly used, what is its composition and basic technical characteristics, as well as the characteristics of operation and proper disposal, basic precautions when working with a toxic substance, forms of release, rules of transportation.

Application

Mainly, solvent Р-650 is used to dilute nitrocellulose enamel to a brush viscosity, because it will be easier to tint small surfaces with a brush. Solvent is ideal for painting work. During the addition of R-650, you need to mix thoroughly to find the necessary viscosity.You also need to first read the instructions for use in order to properly select the ratio of components.

Basically, this solvent is in demand in the automotive industry (especially for working with bodies of trucks and cars), construction and repair work (cleaning painting tools after painting, dissolving acrylic enamels, primers for cars, various types of varnishes, enamels and putty).

The highest priority grade of materials compatible with the P-650 is NC-11 enamels; the enamels of the GF-570 Rk and ML-197 should also be mentioned.

Solvent Р-650 has the following main advantages:

  • no film will appear on the enamel;
  • enamel will not become lighter;
  • paint coated with solvent will not crack.

Composition and technical characteristics

Solvent R-650 saturated composition is a combination of low-volatile components, among which are aromatic hydrocarbons, various esters, alcohol, butanol, xylene and other organic substances. Also, the P-650 is easily distinguished by its characteristic smell. Outwardly, it is a transparent homogeneous liquid, often colorless, but sometimes with a slight yellowish tinge, it does not show suspended particles.

Scratches and small strokes, irregularities on the coated surface should be smoothed immediately after drying. The solvent dries instantly, while not giving a strong gloss, the surface remains even and smooth, but without gloss, more with a matte effect.

Main technical characteristics of P-650:

  • acidity - 0.1 mg KOH / g;
  • coagulation - from 35 to 60%;
  • the percentage of water is not more than 2%;
  • volatility - on ethyl ether is about 25;
  • chromaticity.

For a very long time, solvent Р-650 was produced in accordance with Specifications 6–10–1247–77, but recently it has been recommended to use Specification 2319–003–51758336–2002. The consumption of solvent P-650 cannot be estimated in advance, everything will depend on the conditions and methods of its use.

Features of operation

Solvent R-650 should be added in small portions in order to finally obtain the necessary degree of viscosity. It is recommended to clean the surface with a cloth.

It should always be remembered that solvents are toxic and flammable substances. When working with them, it is recommended to be careful to comply with the approved safety guidelines.

There are a few simple but important points of proper operation:

  • it is necessary to wear special gloves and a mask (respirator);
  • keep away from direct sunlight in a tightly closed bottle / canister;
  • keep away from fire, do not smoke during use;
  • Ideally, the room in which the solvent is used should be well ventilated, it is recommended to open windows or doors so that there is a draft;
  • during work it is necessary to ensure that the product does not fall on the mucous membranes of the eyes and lips and on exposed skin (otherwise you should wash the skin abundantly with warm soapy water to avoid unpleasant consequences, since some chemical elements in the solvent may not adversely affect only on the condition of the skin, but also on the whole body as a whole);
  • You should avoid taking liquids and food while working with the R-650.

You also need to remember about the proper disposal of funds. It is strictly forbidden to discharge the substance into water bodies, disposal of waste through sewage is also excluded, the substance is forbidden to be simply poured onto the ground. After the last residues of the substance are completely dried in the container, the package can be thrown out from under it, like ordinary household or construction waste.

        The life of the solvent R-650, as a rule, is indicated on its packaging and is usually 12 months from the date of manufacture. Such solvent is produced in different forms:

        • 0.5 l and 1 l solvent resistant bottles;
        • special cans made of low pressure polyethylene with a volume of 5 liters and 10 liters.
