Decorative concrete fence: beautiful examples in landscape design

Decorative concrete fence is currently a multifunctional, stylish and practical fencing of the site and the house. It differs from a simple concrete fence in production technology and a presentable look. Consider its relevance in landscape design.

Advantages and disadvantages

Decorative concrete fence has many advantages in front of the fence of other materials. These features allow the fence to remain in the ranking of the most popular fencing for residential areas, and the species diversity will allow each buyer to find the desired option. Consider the main characteristics.

  • Practicality and reliability: concrete is one of the most durable materials, thus it strongly protects the site from penetration, curious glances, fire, heavy rain and a hurricane:
  • Long service life: this enclosure is not subject to corrosion, rotting or rapid damage.
  • Resistance to temperature and humidity, mechanical and chemical influences.
  • Easy installation and dismantling: this is especially true for sectional fences. Often you can install such a fence on your own in a short time.
  • Easy care and maintenance: concrete fencing does not require constant processing and painting.
  • The ability to create a fence on their own, which saves money.
  • Beautiful appearance: such a fence will be a real decoration of any site.
  • Good value for money: for such a fence, the price is affordable and reasonable.

Concrete fencing, despite the presence of many positive qualities, has several disadvantages. It does not let the sun's rays (this applies to solid or high fence). This is bad if plants are planted near the fence. For delivery and unloading fences have to use special equipment.

Kinds

Modern manufacturers produce a wide range of concrete fencing, which is different in color, texture and technology. The main types of fence are.

Monolithic

Monolithic concrete fencing is presented in the form of whole slabs, which can have a smooth and embossed surface. The latter option is most preferred for residential areas. Such a fence can be represented by concrete blocks. Externally, this decorative fence resembles brickwork, but has many finishing options.

Monolithic fencing implies the mandatory presence of the foundation or supports in the form of pillars of concrete products, metal, brick. Such a decorative fence is quite high, it will reliably protect the area from a curious gaze.

As for the aesthetic side of the design, it can be done in various ways. A frequently encountered method is its decoration with decorative plaster, painting, the presence of decorative ornaments at the top of the structure.

Stacked or sectional

Stacked or reinforced concrete fence - a structure consisting of sections, in which there are several concrete slabs. In the finished form, this section looks like one entire panel, where the braided decorative design is on top. This fence is advantageously different from similar designs.

  • You can vary the color and texture of decorative concrete slabs, so it turns out the individual design of each site. Plates can imitate wood, stone.
  • You can select the desired height by changing the number of plates.
  • It is easily and quickly mounted. To install this design does not need to hire professionals and equipment.
  • Reinforced concrete slabs are more durable material due to the steel rods in the base.
  • It can be combined with wooden inserts, metal bars or masonry.

Self standing

The self-contained type of decorative fencing is externally similar to monolithic, but it has a significant advantage - a wide base that does not require the installation of a foundation. This type of fence is often used for temporary fencing, as it does not have aesthetic appeal (it is the cheapest option).

Installation of such a fence does not take much time, although this will require special equipment. She brings the plates and sets them in the right place.

Bilateral

The bilateral decorative fence differs from other types in that it has the same decorated surface on the inner and outer sides. This allows you to originally design the site. In addition to the interesting and unusual decor, it has a fairly solid construction.

Installation and maintenance

It is possible to install a decorative fence made of concrete without the help of experts. This can be done in two ways:

  • using the foundation;
  • using pillars.

For the foundation, it is necessary to initially mark the border in the form of a trench. Its width should be twice the width of the plates, the depth can vary from 60 to 90 cm (depending on the type of soil). After the trench is dug, it should be carefully tamped. For this purpose, crushed stone, sand, roofing material and concrete are used.

Sand, stone, and concrete are used to make a mortar for fixing the base of the fence; roofing material is necessary to protect the moat from shedding and subsidence. The solution should be poured onto a previously prepared drainage of rubble, after hardening, formwork should be installed. It will keep the shape and strength of the whole structure. Then you need to make a frame of metal beams and reinforcement, which is smaller in terms of formwork parameters. Holders for the posts are fixed to the finished frame, then concrete slabs are installed.

Installation of the fence using pillars occurs without creating a trench. To do this, pre-note the equal distance between the pillars with a rope and a peg. Then dig holes under the pillars and set the first and last pillars. After that establish all other support.

Concrete is poured into the empty space of the pits, and sometimes metal fittings are installed. In such pillars, as a rule, there are already necessary grooves into which concrete slabs are inserted. In addition to solid pillars, there are prefabricated models.

Installation of the fence on such structures is as follows:

  • Measure the distance to install the supports, which should be equal to the width of the plates.
  • Perform pits under the pillars. Each hole should be concreted and reinforcement should be installed in it.
  • Install the support section and concrete the empty space. Only after that install the next section and concreted in the same way.
  • Upon completion of the installation of the pillars, you must install the cover, which is a protective and decorative element of the structure.

After installing the fence, it is important to properly treat it to increase the service life. Processing consists of several stages.

  • It is necessary to remove shrubs, flowers and grass adjacent to the structure for further unhindered work with the fence.
  • It is necessary to treat the surface of the fence with a special primer (if it was painted).
  • It is necessary to remove paint with water and a brush.
  • Treat the plates and supports with antifungal solution, then prime the surface again. This will give it greater strength and adhesion to paint.
  • Apply paint to the surface evenly.

The choice of color and type of paint depends on the color scheme of the surrounding objects and the texture of the concrete slab. If the slab has a surface that imitates another material (for example, stone, wood), it is worthwhile to choose a paint of calm and natural shades. Apply the coloring composition should be in two or three layers, where each subsequent layer is applied after the previous is completely dry.

Most often, the first layer is applied with a brush, the subsequent coating is applied with a spray.

To preserve the presentable appearance and extend the life of the concrete fence, it is necessary 1-2 times per year to treat the surface of the structure with special protective impregnation.Decorative concrete fence is not only reliable protection of the site and buildings, but also an aesthetically attractive object. The variety of types, colors and textures of concrete fencing will allow you to advantageously distinguish the territory from similar areas.

Easy installation and long operation allow more and more customers to make a choice in favor of this fence, choosing the type of fence for their site.
